Towns Place North
Walsh Bay, Sydney
Towns Place North is part of Walsh Bay, the largest and most intact twentieth century commercial maritime complex in New South Wales. The two storey timber-framed weatherboard building was built in 1910 as a detached office building and is a significant part of the Pier 8/9 Wharf, completed by Bates Smart in 2000.The building structure and substructure have been stabilised and the building restored in accordance with the conservation management plan. The exterior building fabric has been restored, new balconies and glazed-in staircase added and a timber bridge linking Pier 8/9 reinstated. All paint colours are in accordance with the approved heritage precinct philosophy. Internally, the building has been adapted with modern amenities and services as strata offices.
