The Children’s Court of Victoria is the latest purpose-built Children’s Court facility in Australia.All functions of the courts are housed within the building including pre-hearing, the court complex, clinic, support services and administration.
Public entry to the building is off Little Lonsdale Street with magistrate and separate custodial access via Lonsdale Lane.
The building design derives from humane modernist principles and utilises glass, steel, concrete and timber as the primary building materials.
Particular attention has been paid to the use of natural light within the building design as well as the inclusion of severalsecure public outdoor areas.
