Bates Smart has recently completed the new Emergency Department. The project expands and redevelops the existing department to be constructed over four stages.
The Emergency Department includes:

- Improved separation of paediatrics and adult patients
- An increased number of single rooms including those with isolation capacity
- Specialist Mental Health Treatment areas
- Quality staff facilities
- Access to natural daylight from many patient treatment spaces
