Bates Smart was invited to contribute to Sustainable Sydney 2030, the City of Sydney’s vision for a green, global and connected city. Bates Smart examined the Western Edge of the city which incorporates Darling Harbour and the Western Distributor.
Darling Harbour is isolated from its surroundings and cuts the city CBD off from the Pyrmont / Ultimo peninsula. Bates Smart’s design solution establishes Darling Harbour as the link between the two peninsulas. A proposed parkland renewal in Darling Harbour reconnects the harbour with the city centre.
