Entertainment Centre Masterplan
Sydney
Bates Smart was engaged by the Sydney Entertainment Centre’s operators to undertake a development opportunity study of the centre and precinct. The study explored the viability of enhancing the existing facility and environs through a number of complimentary developments.
Proposed initiatives include additional retail and ticketing facilities at ground floor and function facilities at concourse level. A freestanding 5-storey building containing restaurants and lifestyle retail creates an edge to a large public square and activates the precinct outside of event times.
A twenty storey commercial building with podium level entertainment facilities is proposed to the north of the centre, positioned on axis with Darling Harbour. The iconic form of the building acts a landmark for the entertainment precinct.
The development study involved significant consultation with the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority who was both the property owner and approval authority
