Clayton Utz, Level 8
Sydney
This project involved the in-depth exploration of Clayton Utz’s future workplace vision and the translation of key outcomes of this process into a pilot study for their Shared Services team. The vision for Clayton Utz’s future workplace was determined through broad ranging consultation with Clayton Utz’s staff. Workshops provided a forum for educating staff on current workplace trends, with a focus on local and international legal practices. They also enabled open and frank discussion on hot issues being faced by legal practices today including:
- the realities and perceptions of confidentiality
- environments to support knowledge sharing, collaboration, team working and mentoring
- status, hierarchy and space standards
- work-life balance and access to lifestyle amenities
The brief for the level 8 fitout for Clayton Utz’s Shared Services team was to create a working environment that met this team’s specific needs, whilst trialling new concepts for Clayton Utz’s future legal workplace. The outcome is a predominantly open plan environment designed to support team working. ‘Open offices’ located in the premium position away from major circulation and against the perimeter glazing, provide a refreshing choice to the alternative enclosed office located internally. Workstations feature frosted glass screens and corridors are lined with planting and pendant lights, resulting in a calm, high quality workspace. Comfortable and relaxed breakout and casual meeting spaces are provided adjacent to the training centre and a flexible think-tank / yoga space, creating a hub for staff.
